Writing Tips
Put on New Glasses
I remember when I put on my first pair of glasses. All of a sudden, I could see! Leaves on a tree, numbers on a license plate—it was amazing. And you can have the same sudden switch in perception if you put on imaginary glasses.

Are you trying to write a story about a three year old? Put on a pair of three year old glasses. How does the world look to you now? Is the cookie jar on the counter much farther away? Does everyone else seem twice your size?

Maybe you are writing a story about a dog. Put on some dog glasses, and notice how your favorite red rubber ball just fits between your teeth. Do you suddenly want to run and run and run in the park? And what is that very interesting smell?

Look at the world through the glasses you choose, and write down what you see, and feel, and taste, and smell, and hear. You will surprise yourself!
